There is a great collection of books to buy, DVDs, T-shirts and just about anything you could want to remind you that you were there and wanted to take just a little piece of this history away with you. You can't separate the history of the automobile from the history of Route 66 and so a well-preserved Ford Model T takes pride of place, while the red 60's Mustang convertible nearby just makes you want to jump in and drive.

It's floor-to-ceiling memorabilia, a funky little area with real movie theatre seats where you can watch a Route 66 video (and you can buy a copy later) and some great photographs. If you've ever been to Angel Delgadillo's memorabilia shop in Seligman. Finding some shade to park in is more difficult, though you'll find yourself among some great railroad locomotives and stock. The museum is easy to find once you've 'crossed the tracks' and driving over there makes you realise what a railroad town Barstow was and still is. If you're staying at the Comfort Inn on Route 66, Barstow, CA you have to go to the Route 66 Mother Road Museum right? Right.
